Unveiling the toolkit, IP for Business, the office said it has been designed to help the smallest companies get to grips with an often misunderstood and complex area, IP rights, so their ideas can generate value.
Cue the toolkit’s showpiece - IP Equip - a free, interactive tool that lets its users identify assets which may need to be protected by IP, and helps them and their adviser explore a strategy for protection.
The tool, available as an app so it can be used ‘on the go’, sits alongside others in the suite such as ‘IP Health Check’ – a tailored assessment business owners can run to identify and value their intellectual property.
Undergoing the check returns a report containing a list of recommended action points to help the user protect and exploit their IP rights, with each recommendation explained and spelt out, in terms of how to put it into practice.
from its previous offerings, in that the suite has been designed to focus more
on the possible commercial value of IP assets, the office urged businesses to
explore the tools if they want to realise their full growth potential.
