Have your say on creative media's future

The final call is being sounded to employers and workers in the creative media field who want to have their say on where the industry is heading and what it needs.

Pointing agencies, entrepreneurs and freelancers to an in-depth consultation on the creative media market, the sector skills council said respondents could "directly shape" future policy.

Views put forward will also help assess how the UK's creative media offering is faring against the international competition, and in the current economic climate, Skillset said.

In particular, creatives are asked to indicate their skill requirements, experience of training and recruitment, and any future plans including working patterns.

This will let the council "pinpoint future training" needs, as seen by workers and employers, and should help it spot potential skill shortages before they emerge.

“These surveys play such an important role for the whole of the Creative Media sector," explained Skillset chief executive Dinah Caine.

"Including planning future training support, pinpointing skills gaps and determining what more we can do to make sure our sector remains a world leader.”
