It’s a teacup not a camera that Lady Gaga has become attached to, but it hasn’t stopped imaging giant Polaroid from hiring her as a creative director.
The Paparazzi singer was at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas yesterday to confirm she will take on the title for a new line of the group’s imaging kit.
Her role will take her behind the scenes of the 70-year-old company, which retired its analogue camera last year, where she will design and invent speciality projects.
According to Polaroid’s product pipeline, those projects will aim to deliver an easy-to-use or access digital experience, designed for instant fun and gratification.
Twitter, the current king of all these qualities, was last night uploaded with a picture of the singer showing a Polaroid business card that read ‘Lady Gaga – Creative Director.’
She said: “The Haus of Gaga has been developing prototypes in the vein of fashion/technology/photography innovation--blending the iconic history of Polaroid and instant film with the digital era. Lifestyle, music, art, fashion: I am so excited to extend myself behind the scenes as a designer, and to as my father puts it--finally, have a real job."
Despite, then, not really working, the 23-year-old has managed to win more than 30 awards since her debut album in 2008, and has been nominated for six Grammys, which will be announced later this month.
