Win free tickets to Grand Designs Live

The chance to watch someone else buy, build and furnish their own jaw-dropping house and move in within just one hour is reserved for viewers of Channel 4’s Grand Designs.

Now an exhibition to celebrate the hit TV show is asking you, the creative freelancer, to try and plan the same - admittedly not in 60 minutes but all from under one roof.

Thanks to FreelanceUK, you can attend the London-based event for free: simply tell us the design development of the future that you think will change Britain’s homes the most for a chance to win entry.

To win one of the three pairs of tickets we’ve got for Grand Designs Live 2008, you must also tell us ‘why’ you think your vision of the British home is sound.

“There are no definitively right and wrong answers we're just interested in your thoughts,” a FreelanceUK spokeswoman said yesterday, addressing readers.

“The best answers will be picked from the question…What design developments will change the British home the most in the coming years and why?”

Based on the programme fronted by design guru Kevin McCloud, Grand Designs Live will put you in touch with him and over 500 exhibitors, as well as experts in the field.

Visitors will also get access to six inspiring shows or mini master classes - on grand building techniques, gardens, kitchens, interiors, bathrooms and village design.

For budding designers, a series of daily lectures and discussions will take place, focussing on must-know topics, including planning, ecology, design and financing.

And for those already into their project, an information hub will give the lowdown on building and architecture regulations, as well as the golden rules, from planning to garden design.

An online forum to discuss all the activities and plug products (1,000-plus will be exhibited) has already gone live to inspire visitors to attend from May 3 to May 11 at London Excel .

To stand a chance of winning free tickets, simply e-mail editor@freelanceuk.com by Friday April 18, stating the design developments that will change the British home the most in the coming years and why. Good luck and, oh, see you there!
