They have already snapped some of the decade’s most defining moments, but Sony Ericsson says now is the time for people behind the popular cameraphone device to bask in the spotlight.
Announcing the contest, the technology giant said it is searching for the UK’s best camera phone photographer, regardless of their overall photographic ability.
Grand prizes include a round the world trip for two people, a Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot K810i and entry into the global cameraphone competition 'World View'.
There are four categories open for entry – fashion, news, sport and adventure – with each submission needing to be spontaneous and inspired to stand a chance of winning.
Sony Ericsson will award monthly prizes to winners of each category, followed by a shoot out challenge to find the ultimate winner.
The company will be staging a gallery exhibition of the best entries in London, after which the winner will compete with other national winners in the World View competition.
Photos can now be uploaded to
The Search website , which will alert entrants to upcoming challenges due to be set by celebrities, with prizes including Sony Ericsson handsets.
Rules reportedly state that copyright in the photos passes to Sony Ericsson 'for the duration of one year - after this time copyright reverts back to the entrant'.
The best images will appear in publications including The Times newspaper. The closing date for entry is December 2007.
