Scientists reckon a single photo of the eye could reveal a person’s risk of heart attack in later life.
The image would show if there are changes in the size of arteries in the retina – which, when present with weight gain, flags up risks.
Using photographs in this way could become a routine check if further tests go well, according to Dr Bronwen Taylor of Australia’s Sydney University.
Bronwen, who found the link by studying 1,608 six-year-olds, told The Sun: “Small vessel changes occur before other risk factors.”
