Learn to freelance as a journalist

Journalists and independent writers can get the lowdown on effective freelancing from the NUJ’s Glasgow Office.

The one-day course on Friday March 16 equips newcomers to freelance journalism with all the essentials for starting a career.

Course tutor Frank Shennan is an award-winning journalist who has freelanced for 18 years after two senior roles on a national newspaper.

For the course fee of £80, students will learn, organisational skills - from making contacts to marketing, negotiating, producing the work, selling it, chasing payment and legal rights.

Further details of the course content are on the National Union of Journalist’s website.
