Women entrepreneurs called to compete

Entrepreneurial mums who’ve overcome adversity and got the balance right between family and businesses are being invited to compete in the prestigious Prowess Awards.

To nominate yourself or a friend, the businesswoman must be running an effective outfit after completing a personal journey that required Herculean resolve and determination.

Today, the female entrepreneur must be seen to enjoy an optimum work-life balance and ideally, should be giving support to other women who’ve yet to ‘make the jump’ into self-employment.

Organisers of the Prowess Awards, which are now in their third year, said the criteria for eligibility is similar to that of another award for ‘Inspirational Woman.’

She too must have worked tirelessly to occupy the self-employed position she does today, and ideally should be a “woman entrepreneur who is an outstanding role model and active supporter of women.”

Entries for both awards must reach organisers no later than 1700 on Friday 12 January 2007, in order for the winners to be announced at a Gala Awards Dinner on February 7.

Prowess also wants nominations in a range of other categories, as they want to reward the women up and down the UK who are striving to “change the face of enterprise.”

The ‘Making an Impact’ award will go to the woman who’s used data and statistics to make the case for women entrepreneurs, while other awards will spotlight the best ‘Innovator’ and ‘Female Business Mentor.’
