Freelance Journalist

I'm a journalist, features writer, editor, columnist and copywriter with nearly 20 years of experience in a variety of reader markets.

I started my career at the Press Association as a TV and film writer/reviewer and showbiz writer. By the time I left to set up my own features-writing business (in 1993), I was Features Editor of PA's Howden-based TV division.

I now specialise in lifestyle and the arts and have written for a vast number of national and regional publications including The Times, The Daily Mirror, The Daily Express, Yorkshire Life, The Journal (Hull Daily Mail), Empire, Total Film, Artscene, Livewire, 25 Beautiful Homes, House Beautiful, Coast and Period Living. I regularly write features for UK Trade & Investment's business website on various subjects including medical, healthcare, biotechnology and creative industries.

I'm also a lifestyle magazine editor. I edited Leeds Life for two years, City magazine (published in Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester) for nearly four, and VQ in Leeds, the magazine for the Victoria Quarter (home of Harvey Nichols).

Plus, I'm a copywriter, working with large companies and small firms across the UK (and internationally). I'll help them produce the words for brochures, websites, press releases, in-house publications, flyers and advertorials.

I've worked with commercial organisations - be they leisure destinations, hotel chains, retail centres or large or small firms - who want to publish their own magazines to increase customer awareness and footfall. With my range of contacts, we take care of all editorial content and can arrange feature-writing, photography, fashion shoots, stylists, layout and design, subbing and printing. Clients include Xscape, the extreme sports centres run by PY Gerbeau, and QHotels, the national hotel chain.
