JAYNE HOWARTH
Freelance Journalist
I am a former news journalist, feature writer and page editor with 20 years' experience (15 of which were on The Birmingham Post).
I have extensive experience in a number of areas (including crime, environment and general news). Adaptable and versatile, I can pretty much turn my hand to any style of writing on a myriad subjects. I have particular expertise in children's literature and travel writing.
As well as newspaper experience, I have project management and managerial expertise, having had responsibility for a large proportion of content for a weekly magazine.
I thrive under pressure, work well when faced with tight deadlines and always produce a high standard of written work that is well-researched and grammatically correct.
I work as well within a team as on my own and have the discipline to plan projects effectively.
As well as news and feature writing experience, I have undertaken press office and public relations work for a national children's literacy charity; B2B news editing; proofreading for a publisher;copy editing and writing for a university; bid writing/editing for a national construction company; undertaken an extensive writing project for a prestigious city council award scheme; led classroom sessions on journalism as part of a Midland scheme to promote literacy and writing within schools.
