Debra Cox Editorial Services offers a proofreading and copy-editing service to publishers, non publishers and local businesses who require a proofing service for all their textual needs. Located in Fareham, Hampshire, the business specialises in non fiction but is happy to consider any subject, within any sector.
I proofread newsletters, leaflets, books, magazines, dissertations and any textual document. I work in two ways; working on paper and proofreading the text blind or against copy using the BS 5261C proofreading correction symbols or electronically, in PDF/Word format and proofreading onscreen.
Consistency is key, therefore house styles are strictly conformed to the preferred style. Maintaining high standards and an ability to meet tight deadlines, and confidentiality are assured at all times.
My fees are negotiable, as no two projects are the same in size and complexity. I believe in charging a fair price to my clients and still delivering work to a high standard. I offer discounted rates for charities and students.
Recent works has been writing and editing an article for the classic car publication Minor Monthly and proofreading magazine supplements in the Daily Telegraph and The Guardian. Previous assignments have included proofreading and editing accounts documents and university dissertations.
I am an Associate of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) and have attended professional workshops held by them to maintain high standards. I am qualified with a Diploma in Proofreading and Editing (merit) from Maple Publishing and a Certificate of Competence in Proofreading Plus from Chapterhouse.
My early career involved accounting and a fine art background where painting and photography were my specialism. I am educated to graduate level - BA (Hons) Fine Art, and A levels including English Language.
