HANNAH MARTIN COPYWRITER

Freelance Copywriter

NO CV AVAILABLE

In the past 14 years I've written copy for many of the world's biggest advertising agencies and brands. I've created a subscription mailing for The Economist that increased response by 111%, produced some of HSBC Asia's most popular intranet features, and helped Cow & Gate give breastfeeding advice to men.

But enough about me. How can I help you? Whatever copy requirements you have - from a 200 page corporate brochure to a pithy 100 word email - I'd be delighted to craft you some beautiful and powerful words.

You can read about a few of my previous projects below. To find out more about my work and how I can help you, please visit my website at www.hannahmartincopywriter.co.uk

PORTFOLIO

Johnson & Johnson
Over the past few years I've worked extensively with Acuvue, Johnson & Johnson's market-leading contact lens brand.

From full page ads, to newletters, magazines, in-store promotional media, emails, conference materials and direct mail I've written it all.

So when they wanted their entire website rewritten, it made sense for them to ask me.

Ariel
When Ariel launched their huge new website, I dug deep into my experience of hot washes, ironing and removing stubborn stains to write copy for the entire thing.

It took weeks of blood, sweat and tears, but by the end of the process at least I - and the thousands of readers of the site - could confidently remove any trace of them from our laundry.

Rioja Wines
An agency I worked with regularly asked me to help them pitch for some business for the Rioja wine region.

I came up with several concepts and the agency presented their favourite two to the client.

Rioja loved them so much that they offered the agency a much larger account worth up to 4 million pounds - making everyone involved very, very happy.

MHFA England
When MHFA England decided they needed a complete rebrand last year, they turned to me for help.

Over a number of weeks I worked with the management team to develop a brand guidelines tone of voice document, and created a marketing toolkit that included brochures, flyers, emails and website.

Not only was the project successful, but it was incredibly rewarding to work for such an important cause.

The Guardian
To promote the Guardian's guide to gastropubs I decided to remind people just how awful bad pub food can be.

So - with the blessing of the brands involved - we handed out packets of scampi fries and pork scratchings to hungry commuters asking if they'd rather their seafood fresh or bar snacks hairless. Unsurprisingly the answer was yes, and they rushed out to grab the copy of the guide before it sold out.

Virgin Holidays
Virgin Holidays challenged my art director and I to create a 48 sheet campaign that sold their holidays without using any imagery. So we came up with a series of billboards that suggested that their customers loved the holidays SO much, they'd named their children after them.

And so, "Time for bed Mississippi", "Eat your greens Grenada", "Tidy your room Fort Lauderdale" and "Oi! Tampa Bay, come 'ere" were born.

The Economist
As a copywriter I always feel incredibly proud when my work is successful. And a mailing I created for The Economist was particularly so.

I devised a subscription mailing that was sent out to a very tired list of recipients, and managed to increase their response rate by a staggering 111%!

How? By looking at where the client had been going wrong and offering a completely innovative way to resolve it. If you'd like me to help you resolve similar problems, get in touch.

Emma's Diary
Emma's Diary is a popular website offering advice and support to pregnant ladies and new mums.

It's based around the fictional Emma whose weekly pregnancy diary is posted on the site for you to follow.

Well, I have a confession to make - I'm Emma! Or at least, I'm the copywriter responsible for capturing the ups and downs of a first pregnancy and life with Emma's husband Nick in the diary.

And I have to say, as far as pregnancies and births go, I found Emma's reassuringly painless.

HSBC
HSBC Hong Kong asked me to devise, research and write weekly lifestyle articles for their intranet.

Over the space of a year, my features attracted a readership of 6,000 and were consistently in the top 5 most visited pages of their entire site.

In fact, my stories were so popular that they were read by HSBC employees throughout Asia Pacific and I was the only freelance writer retained when budgets were cut.

(To see just how happy my client was, take a look at the testimonials on my website.)

CIGNA Global
When Bupa launched their international healthcare plan Worldwide Health Options they asked me to write all their launch marketing materials - including sales and membership brochures, welcome packs, sales kits, emails, letters and more.

I did such a good job that when CIGNA launched their Global Health Options plan they asked me to provide them with the same materials - plus write their entire website.

(So if you ever want to know anything about private health cover around the world, I'm your woman!)

Playstation
When Playstation were about to release eight new games, they challenged us to come up with one exciting mailing to promote all of them.

Knowing how seriously avid Playstation fans took the games, I created a blank sorry card with eight different excuse stickers for customers to personalise and send out to all those they would inevitably stand up and ignore once they got their hands on the new releases.

I'm proud to say that the card was a hit not just with Playstation and their customers, but also with D&AD.

Ford
A couple of years ago the car giant Ford decided to update their entire UK website. It was a mammoth project - thousands upon thousands of pages. And I was lucky enough to be selected as one of the small handful of copywriters given responsibility for writing it.

Over the space of a few months I became an expert in things like Torque Vectoring Control, ECOnetic Technology and the intricacies of tax-free sales for military personnel.

They were so happy with the work that when they needed a microsite to promote the new Ford Focus, they asked me to help.
